A NEW DAY
The Albertus Magnus College women's lacrosse team prepares for three crucial Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match-up's this week. The Falcons are on the road Wednesday evening at Johnson & Wales before returning home to hosts Lasell College on Saturday and Rivier University on Sunday.

FINAL SCORE: Albertus Magnus 13 | Saint Joseph's (Conn.) 6 – RECAP/BOX SCORE
HIGHLIGHT: Along with her four goals, Korina Zelaya (Trumbull, Conn.) also registered an assist and two ground balls.
GOALIE: Sophomore Lexie Fenn (Oakville, Conn.) earned the "W" in net for the Falcons as she recorded four saves on eight shots. Grace Vestro also made an appearance in net for the Falcons in the last 13 minutes of play.

HIGHLIGHT: Kaitlin D'Agostino led the Falcons with two goals, two ground balls, a caused turnover and two draw control wins.
GOALIE: Sophomore Lexie Fenn (Oakville, Conn.) earned the loss for the Falcons as well as made 19 saves in net.

FENN EARNS 200TH CAREER SAVE
In the loss to Mount Ida on Saturday, sophomore Lexie Fenn collected her 200th career save. Over her career, she now has made a total of 216 saves.

HIGHLIGHT: Aida Sarr (Bronx, N.Y.), Jenny Luna (Brentwood, N.Y.) and Miranda Jassil (North Branford, Conn.) each scored one of the three goals for the Falcons.
GOALIE: In net, Lexie Fenn (Oakville, Conn.) turned aside 16 shots in a losing effort for the Falcons.

HIGHLIGHT: Miranda Jassil (North Branford, Conn.) scored the lone goal for the Falcons, her 13th of the season. AMC midfielder Alex Chan (Monroe, N.Y.) won two draw controls, while three other Falcons including Jassil scooped three ground balls apiece.
GOALIE: In the cage, Lexi Fenn (Oakville, Conn.) took the loss (1-10) with five saves for Albertus.

HIGHLIGHT: It was a two-headed attack for the visitors as freshman Aida Sarr (Bronx, N.Y.) and sophomore Jenny Luna (Brentwood, N.Y.) both netted two goals apiece. Freshman Jyllian Finkle (North Branford, Conn.) scored the other Falcon marker on the afternoon.
GOALIE: In the cage, Fenn turned aside 14 shots in a losing effort for Albertus Magnus.

WOMEN'S LACROSSE PICKED 10TH IN GNAC PRESEASON POLL
The Albertus Magnus College women's lacrosse team was picked to finish 10th in the 2017 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Preseason Poll.

LAST YEAR RECAP
Heading into the fourth season in program history, Albertus Magnus is coming off a 1-12 campaign in which the Falcons scored a 12-10 home victory against Bay Path.

Last season, the Falcons scored seven or more goals in a game four times, including twice in conference play.

STANDOUTS

  • Aida Sarr (Bronx, N.Y.) had a breakout season as she led the team in goals (20), points (22), free-position goals (6) and shots (54). She became just the fourth player in school history to score 20 or more goals in a season and 22 points were the third-highest mark in program history.
  • Miranda Jassil (North Branford, Conn.) ended an historic career with 16 markers and a team-high three helpers. She leaves Albertus Magnus as the program's all-time leader in points (63), goals (47), assists (16), shots (105), free-position goals (10), groundballs (65) and caused turnovers (28).
  • In the cage, Fenn amassed an 18.33 goals-against average while making 137 saves and recording a .384 save percentage.


AWARD WINNERS
Following the season, Carla Tapia (Bronx, N.Y.) represented the squad on the GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team. She earned the league-wide distinction for the second time in her collegiate career after starting in all 13 games for the Falcons in 2016

UP NEXT
The Falcons return to action next week against Mt. St. Vincent and Saint Joseph's of Maine. Prior to the start of Thursday's game against Mt. St. Vincent, the Albertus Magnus College women's lacrosse team will be honoring its four-member senior class.
