The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) has announced the All-Academic Team for the 2012-13 school year. Thirty-six student-athletes from Albertus Magnus College were among the 757 members of the Academic Team from 13 full-time institutions and 12 affiliate member institutions in the conference. The student-athletes selected had to meet the following criteria: maintain a 3.25 cumulative grade point average, complete at least one full season of competition at a GNAC institution and is of sophomore status academically.

With runners on first and second, freshman Alyssa Puccilli (Milford, Conn.) recorded an RBI single to plate the eventual game-winning run as Danielle Figueroa (Bridgeport, Conn.) scored to give Albertus a 3-2 lead in the top of the eighth inning. The Falcons went on to edge Lasell by that score to improve to 13-14 on the year and 6-9 in GNAC play.

The Albertus Magnus softball team fell to Norwich 9-6 in game two on Saturday afternoon in West Haven. Albertus led 5-3 after four innings but a five-run fifth inning for the Cadets gave Norwich an 8-5 lead late in the game. With the win, Norwich extends its win streak to 15 games, while the Cadets are now 10-0 in league play.

An RBI single by Jamie Vesciglio (Stratford, Conn.) plated the go-ahead run in the frame before a double by Veronica Hribko (East Haven, Conn.) added two more runs for the Falcons, including the eventual game winner.

In game one of the Tuesday night doubleheader, the Albertus Magnus softball team downed the College of New Rochelle 13-0 in five innings. Led by a 3-for-4 performance from Danielle Figueroa (Bridgeport, Conn.), including a home run and a double, the Falcons scored 13 runs on 17 hits and two New Rochelle errors.

Led by a three-run home run from freshman Gilmary Gonzalez (New Britain, Conn.), the Albertus Magnus softball team downed Bay Path College 9-4 in non-conference action on Thursday night.
