  • 2012-13 GNAC All-Academic Team Announced

    The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) has announced the All-Academic Team for the 2012-13 school year. Thirty-six student-athletes from Albertus Magnus College were among the 757 members of the Academic Team from 13 full-time institutions and 12 affiliate member institutions in the conference. The student-athletes selected had to meet the following criteria: maintain a 3.25 cumulative grade point average, complete at least one full season of competition at a GNAC institution and is of sophomore status academically.

    The Albertus Magnus baseball team defeated John Jay 6-4 in the Falcons' final game of the 2013 season. Senior Daniel Kmiechick (Barnegat, N.J.) earned the victory for the Falcons to improve to 3-0 on the year, while senior Matthew Finkenzeller (Wolcott, Conn.) picked up the save.

    With a walk-off game-winning single by Adam Johnson, the Suffolk University Rams slipped past the Albertus Magnus baseball team 9-8 in game one of the Monday evening doubleheader. With the Falcons leading 8-6 heading into the bottom of the seventh, the Rams scored three runs in the final frame to take the league victory.

  • Kmiechick Wins Second Straight in Falcons' 9-5 Victory at Westfield State

    A seven-run first inning lifted the Albertus Magnus baseball team to a 9-5 win over Westfield State on Tuesday night in non-conference action. Senior Daniel Kmiechick (Barnegat, N.J.) picked up his second-straight victory on the hill for the Falcons as he went six innings allowing eight hits and three walks as he faced 27 batters. The win marked the 10th for the Falcons this season, while it also marked the 99th of the career of head coach Brian Leighton.

With the win, the Monks improve to 20-9 on the year and 10-2 in league play, while the Falcons fall to 9-15 overall and 5-7 in the GNAC.

Freshman Jordan Kubilus (Cheshire, Conn.) led the way for the Falcons with two hits and four RBI.
